The revised GB 6675—2025 series of mandatory national toy safety standards will take effect on November 1, 2026. The revisions expand chemical safety requirements and introduce targeted provisions for some popular toy products.
The standards add limits covering 10 categories of hazardous substances, including formaldehyde, total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), short-chain chlorinated paraffins and boron. This broadens the range of chemical hazards addressed by the toy safety requirements.

The broader chemical coverage brings more substances into the scope of toy safety compliance. Manufacturers and suppliers may need to examine their products and materials against the revised requirements, while purchasers may want to consider how they obtain relevant product information from suppliers.
The targeted provisions for some popular toys also mean that compliance questions will depend on the products involved. The practical effect on testing, sourcing and production will depend on the detailed requirements applicable to each product.
