1. Core features of the product
(I) Chemical composition
Nickel (Ni, content ≥63%) and copper (Cu, content 28 - 34%) are the main elements, supplemented by a small amount of iron (Fe, ≤2.5%), manganese (Mn, ≤2.0%), silicon (Si, ≤0.50%), sulfur (S, ≤0.024%) and other elements. Nickel gives the alloy good stability and oxidation resistance; copper enhances its corrosion resistance in reducing acid and improves strength and hardness; other elements optimize the comprehensive performance of the alloy.
(II) Performance advantages
1. Excellent corrosion resistance: It performs well in a variety of highly corrosive media such as hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, seawater, alkali solution, salt solution, etc., especially has unique tolerance to hydrofluoric acid and fluorine gas environment, and is one of the few alloy materials suitable for such media.
2. Excellent mechanical properties: It has high strength and good toughness, with a tensile strength of 480-760MPa, a yield strength of 170-585MPa, and an elongation of ≥35%; it has stable performance under high and low temperature environments, no plastic-brittle transition temperature, and still maintains good toughness at low temperatures, and can maintain good mechanical properties at high temperatures (≤600℃).
3. Good processing performance: It can be formed by cold rolling, hot rolling, forging and other processes; it has good welding performance, supports TIG, MIG and other welding methods, can be welded with carbon steel and low alloy steel, and is convenient for the manufacture and assembly of complex structural parts.
4. Other characteristics: density 8.80g/cm³, thermal conductivity 21.8W/m-K, low magnetic permeability and low thermal expansion coefficient, which can reduce the influence of electromagnetic interference and thermal stress.

II. Common grades and characteristics
(I) Monel 400 (UNS N04400)
- Characteristics: The most commonly used Monel alloy grade, with balanced corrosion resistance, strength and processing performance. It has good corrosion resistance in media such as seawater, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and hydrofluoric acid; it is easy to cold, hot process and weld, and can be made into various product forms such as plates, pipes, and bars.
- Application areas: widely used in chemical equipment (such as reactors, pipelines), marine engineering (seawater desalination equipment, submarine pipelines), ship components (pump shafts, propellers), food processing equipment, etc.
(II) Monel K-500 (UNS N05500)
- Features: Aluminum and titanium elements are added to Monel 400, and after aging hardening treatment, the strength and hardness are significantly improved (tensile strength can reach more than 1000MPa, hardness HRC 35-44), while maintaining good corrosion resistance and toughness.
- Application areas: Suitable for high-load, high-corrosion environments, such as oil well casings, valves, and seals in oil and gas production; shaft sleeves and mechanical parts in the shipbuilding industry; pumps and valve parts in the nuclear industry, etc.
(III) Monel R-405 (UNS N04405)
- Features: Compared with Monel 400, the sulfur content is reduced and a small amount of lead is added, which improves the cutting performance and makes it easier to machine, while maintaining good corrosion resistance and weldability.
- Application areas: Commonly used in the manufacture of parts that require precision machining, such as screws, nuts, instrument parts, etc.
(IV) Monel 450
- Features: The corrosion resistance and mechanical properties are further optimized by adjusting the composition. It performs better in some specific corrosive environments (such as media containing chloride ions) and has good high-temperature stability.
- Application areas: Suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure corrosion-resistant equipment and pipelines in the petrochemical and power industries.
