(I) Chemical composition and performance advantages
- Core components: nickel-based, common alloying elements include:
- Chromium (Cr): Improves oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance, especially in oxidizing media.
- Molybdenum (Mo)/Tungsten (W): Enhances corrosion resistance in reducing acids (such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid) and high temperature and high pressure environments.
- Titanium (Ti)/Aluminum (Al): Forms intermetallic compounds through aging strengthening to improve high temperature strength.
- Cobalt (Co): Improves high temperature oxidation resistance and thermal strength.
- Key performance:
1. High temperature resistance: It can serve for a long time at high temperatures of 650℃ - 1200℃, and some grades (such as Inconel 718) still maintain excellent mechanical properties in the range of -253℃ to 700℃.
2. Corrosion resistance: It has good tolerance to seawater, acid, alkali, salt and high temperature gas (such as sulfur-containing atmosphere), which is better than stainless steel and ordinary alloys.
3. High strength and toughness: The tensile strength can reach 700-1400MPa, and it has good plasticity, suitable for complex stress environment.
4. Processing and weldability: Some grades (such as Incoloy 800) can be cold/hot processed, with good welding performance, supporting TIG, MIG and other processes.

2. Mainstream grades and application scenarios
(I) Inconel series (corrosion resistance + high temperature)
1. Inconel 625 (UNS N06625)
- Features: Contains chromium (20 - 23%) and molybdenum (8 - 10%), has excellent corrosion resistance (seawater, chloride, sulfuric acid) and high temperature strength (≤980℃ oxidation resistance), excellent weldability, no aging hardening requirements.
- Applications: Marine engineering (submarine pipelines, heat exchangers), chemical equipment (reactors, valves), aircraft engine parts.
2. Inconel 718 (UNS N07718)
- Features: Add niobium (5 - 5.5%) and titanium (0.65 - 1.15%), obtain ultra-high strength (tensile strength ≥1240MPa) through aging strengthening, stable performance in the range of -253℃ to 700℃, strong fatigue and creep resistance.
- Application: Aerospace (turbine discs, engine blades), nuclear industry (pressure vessels), petrochemical industry (high temperature bolts).
3. Inconel 600 (UNS N06600)
- Features: high nickel (≥72%) + chromium (14 - 17%), resistant to oxidizing acid (nitric acid) and high temperature water vapor corrosion, outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking at 500℃ - 650℃.
- Application: heat treatment equipment (furnace tubes, brackets), food processing (corrosion-resistant containers), nuclear reactor components.
(II) Incoloy series (high temperature + corrosion resistance)
1. Incoloy 825 (UNS N08825)
- Features: Contains nickel (38 - 46%), chromium (19.5 - 23.5%), molybdenum (2 - 3%) and copper (1.5 - 3%), excellent corrosion resistance in reducing acids such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, and chloride stress corrosion resistance.
- Application: pickling equipment, seawater treatment system, petroleum refining pipeline.
2. Incoloy 800 (UNS N08800)
- Features: nickel (30 - 35%) + chromium (19 - 23%), resistant to high temperature oxidation (≤1200℃) and carburizing, good corrosion resistance in high temperature and high pressure water medium, excellent processability.
- Application: chemical heating pipes, nuclear steam generators, heat treatment furnace components.
(III) Hastelloy series (strong corrosion environment)
1. Hastelloy C - 276 (UNS N10276)
- Features: Contains molybdenum (15 - 17%), tungsten (3 - 4.5%) and chromium (14.5 - 16.5%), is one of the strongest alloys resistant to general corrosion and local corrosion (pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion), resistant to concentrated hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid and mixed acid, resistant to chlorine and hypochlorite corrosion.
- Application: chemical reactors, waste incinerators, pharmaceutical equipment, seawater desulfurization equipment.
2. Hastelloy B-3 (UNS N10675)
- Features: high molybdenum (27-32%), specially designed for resistance to reducing acids (such as hydrochloric acid), excellent corrosion resistance in boiling hydrochloric acid, and better resistance to intergranular corrosion than the early B series grades.
- Application: hydrochloric acid production and processing equipment, phosphoric acid industry, acidic environment parts in petrochemicals.
(IV) Other typical grades
1. Nimonic 80A (UNS N07080)
- Features: Contains aluminum (1-1.7%) and titanium (1.8-2.7%), improves high temperature strength through aging strengthening, excellent creep resistance at 700℃-800℃, and good oxidation resistance.
- Application: aircraft engine turbine blades, high temperature bolts.
2. GH4169 (corresponding to Inconel 718)
- Features: Chinese brand, performance consistent with Inconel 718, high strength, fatigue resistance, suitable for complex stress conditions.
- Application: aerospace engine housing, nuclear industry fasteners.
